Integral Response to Nepal Earthquake

The earthquake with magnitude of 7.8 (Mw) that hit Nepal on Saturday, April 25, 2015 is one of the worst recorded in the world history. More than 6000 people have lost their lives so far and the count is rising. There are thousands more who are seriously injured and who lost their homes. There has been several deadly aftershocks of upto 6.7 Mw and experts say there will many more over the course of next few weeks or even months. Nepal, with a total GDP of $19.921 billion (according to a 2012 estimate), is one of Asia's poorest countries, and has little ability to fund a major reconstruction effort on its own. Even before the quake, the Asian Development Bank estimated that it would need to spend about four times more than it currently does annually on infrastructure through 2020 to attract investment. This is a very catastrophic event in a very poor nation. The cost of reconstruction over the next few years will be massive.

Integral Without Borders (IWB) has launched an integral response to Nepal Earthquake. Please donate to this cause and help us organize a disaster relief team to engage in Nepal. IWB’s initial response was to collaborate with organizations already operating on the ground who are providing immediate needs for the survivors on the ground including food, shelter and healthcare. IWB is now doing an integral need assessment to make sure the funds raised will be used in the most responsible, effective and ethical way, which directly benefits the survivors. IWB’s integral response will include facilitating healing circles to generate transformative narrative, emotional recovery, work with post-traumatic stress, cultural healing, address long-term systemic issues and execute sustainable social innovation initiatives. These efforts build on the Integral Nepal Project, a project delivered by One Sky with its partner NGO in Nepal and funded by MetaIntegral Foundation.
